Tooth Extractions in Erie, PA

What to expect during your visit

To alleviate any discomfort, your dentist will numb the area. Following the extraction, your dentist will advise you on the post-extraction regimen to follow; in most cases, some bleeding is normal.

Avoid anything that could obstruct normal healing. For the first 24 hours, it is usually best not to smoke, rinse your mouth vigorously, or drink through a straw. These activities may dislodge the clot and cause healing to be delayed.

If you must rinse during the first few days post-procedure, do so gently; to mitigate pain or swelling, apply a cold cloth or an ice bag. Inquire with your dentist about pain relievers. Brush and floss your other teeth as normal. However, do not clean the teeth adjacent to the tooth socket.
